From The Rectory January 2019
Christmas Reflection

Henley in Arden Parish Church – celebrating life in the heart of Henley. From the Rectory - Dear Friends, Happy New Year to you all. The start of the year is a time for hoping and wishing. I hope that 2019 will be a year of happy moments and solid joy for us all. Let’s pray for God’s blessing that we might start the year with renewed strength and inspiration. Let us support one another in our careful planning and the determined efforts to pursue our goals. What! Does everything have to be down to us? How about hoping for unexpected happy moments, and how about being at the receiving end of other people’s kindness? Well, there is always hoping and good luck to us all. However, I am sure that only a few of us would want to rely just on chance for our happiness and joy. The healthier option is to grasp life and to make the most of each day. I hope you enjoy the following version of the 23rd Psalm: The Lord is my pacemaker – I shall not rush. He makes me stop and rest for quiet intervals: He provides me with images of stillness, Which restore my serenity. He leads me in ways of efficiency Through calmness of mind, and His guidance is peace. Even though I have a great many things To accomplish each day, I will not fret – for His Presence is here: His timelessness, His importance will keep me in balance. He prepares refreshment and renewal In the midst of my activity, By anointing my mind with his oils of tranquillity. My cup of joyous energy overflows. Surely harmony and effectiveness Shall be the fruits of my hours; For I shall walk in His house forever.
